Introduction

In this tutorial, you integrate the popular tools Git and Jira into a value stream and link them together.

In this tutorial, you learn how to link Git and Jira items in a value stream. When tools are linked, you can access information about both tools from the value stream dots. For instance, you can access Git pull requests associated with Jira issues. If you do not use Git, the concepts that you will learn in this tutorial apply to other source control tools. Similarly, if you do not use Jira, the concepts that you will learn apply to other issue-tracking tools. The DQL queries that you define to filter data are similar to those that you use in all value streams.

Prerequisites

To complete this tutorial, you need:

  • A user ID with a role that enables you to create value streams and configure plug-in integrations.
  • Access to a Jira project and a Jira user ID that allows you to create and modify Jira issues. For information about creating a Jira project, see Setting up a Jira project.
  • GitHub credentials and a Git repository that you can use for the tutorial.

Although the Create a value stream tutorial is not a prerequisite, it introduces important concepts and is especially designed for first-time value stream users. Additionally, you can use the Jira project created in that tutorial in this one.
